Summary Bahirgaon village near Aurangabad is dream accomplished in Indian realm of rural development. Moving from cleanliness drives and infrastructure creation to sustainable development in a course of just six years, Bahirgaon has become an epitome of holistic environmental, social and economic progress made by a village community. Led by a group of enthused and informed leaders in Panchayat, it has made a mark on the lines of Mahatma Gandhi's Gram Swaraj movement. In a country where far-flung rural areas are fighting against disparity issues and their right to sustainable growth, Bahirgaon is for better than an Indian urban area in terms of the extent of development. It boasts of public amenities like primary and secondary schools, twenty four hours power supply, total sanitation, piped water supply, bio-gas plant from human waste treatment, door to door solid waste collection, and much more, thus leading to high quality of life and positive social changes
